When someone searches for "café near me" or "klinik berhampiran", Google shows a map with a short list of businesses. A complete Google Business Profile gives you a place on that list, and it is free to create.
Before you start
Have these ready so setup takes minutes, not days:
- Your business name exactly as it appears on your signage and registration
- Your address, or the areas you serve if you visit customers
- A phone number and your website address
- Opening hours, a list of services, and a few clear photos
Step by step
- Search for your business on Google Maps. If a listing already exists, claim it. If not, add your business.
- Enter your business name and choose your main category. The main category matters most, so pick the one that best describes what you do.
- Add your location. Use a storefront address if customers visit you, or set a service area if you travel to them.
- Add your phone number and website.
- Verify the profile. Google decides the method. It may offer a code by postcard, phone, email or a short video. Follow the prompts it shows you.
- Complete the profile. Add opening hours, services or products, a short description and photos of your premises, work and team.
After verification
- Ask for reviews. Share your review link with happy customers, and never offer payment or gifts in exchange for reviews.
- Reply to every review, including negative ones, politely and briefly.
- Post updates and offers from time to time so the profile looks active.
- Check your insights each month to see views, calls and direction requests.
Mistakes to avoid
- Adding keywords to your business name. Use the real name only, or Google can suspend the profile.
- Using a mailbox or virtual office as your location when customers cannot visit.
- Using a different name, address or phone number on your website and social pages.
- Ignoring negative reviews.
